This is the official Court website for the Shaffer v. Continental Casualty Company class action settlement. The Court granted final approval of the settlement on June 11, 2009, and following appeal by two policyholders, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed approval of the settlement by order dated January 12, 2010. Therefore, under the terms of the settlement, the settlement became final and effective on April 12, 2010. Keep in mind that you will not receive benefits until you are found to be eligible for them. If you submitted a valid Benefits Form you will receive a mailing from CNA concerning the settlement.
